Varada Divgi, MD

Dr. Varada Divgi received her undergraduate degree and medical degree from University of Bombay, India. After obtaining Diploma in Child Health from University of Bombay, Dr Divgi immigrated to the United States in June 1975. She completed her pediatric training at University of Oklahoma and pediatric pulmonology at University of Florida.

Dr. Divgi introduced the discipline of pediatric pulmonology to Atlanta and the state of Georgia in August of 1981. She was in solo practice as a pediatric pulmonologist at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital (Now a part of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta) for 14 years. Several of the procedures and treatment modalities she introduced to the community are now included as standards of practice. In 1995, she merged her practice with Georgia Pediatric Pulmonology Associates. From 2005 – 2008, Dr. Divgi was on a sabbatical focusing on tobacco prevention with some of this time spent training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and New York. She rejoined GPPA in November 2008 on a part-time basis.

Dr. Divgi is skilled in all areas of pediatric pulmonology, including bronchoscopy and sleep disorders in children. Her special interests are in prevention of the respiratory illnesses, mainly through tobacco prevention and improvement in nutrition of the children with respiratory diseases. She is a prominent member of the State of Georgia Tobacco Prevention Team.

Dr. Varada Divgi is board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in Pediatric Pulmonology. She is a member of American Academy of Pediatrics including the Georgia chapter and American College of Chest Physicians

  • Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta: Scottish Rite, Egleston and Hughes Spalding
  • Northside Hospital

Dr. Divgi is a native of Mumbai, India. She is married and has an extended family of four adult children and four grand children.
